Synthetic Grass Care and Maintenance

Even though artificial turf is considered low maintenance, there will be times when you’ll have to manage food, pet, or other types of stains to maintain the high quality look and feel of your artificial turf. Remember, artificial grass doesn’t grow or get mowed, so you must stay somewhat vigilant with respect to lawn care.

TGI tips for managing your artificial turf…

Stain Removal

Accidents and spills will happen. The key is to promptly clean up the spill before it turns into a tough to manage stain. Cleaning up stains is as easy as 1-2-3.

1. use a towel to blot the area.
2. use a kid and pet safe, non-toxic, hypo-allergenic solution (like ArtificialTurfCleaner.com) to clean the area
3. rinse the area with water.

For more stubborn stains simply repeat the above steps until the desired result is achieved. This will not harm the fiber!

Pet Waste

If you have pets, you already know that regular maintenance is needed to support your little buddy. Synthetic turf is designed to drain extremely well, so urine (#1) will flow through the infill and down through the base material. We recommend hosing down your turf on a regular basis to help the draining process and using a kid and pet safe, non-toxic, hypo-allergenic solution (like ArtificialTurfCleaner.com) to clean the area.

When you’re pet does (#2) business on the artificial grass, simply let it dry before cleaning. Once dried pick up with scooper and hose down the area. If the stain is still present, follow steps 1-3 above to remove the stain.

General Care

Routine maintenance of synthetic/artificial grass helps keep a vibrant look and significantly increases the longevity. With a lifespan of 15-20 years, following a simple maintenance program is recommended. Using a low powered blower to remove debris and rinsing regularly are the two main actions. Additionally, every few years broom the turf and add new infill to keep the fibers dancing.

Recommended Equipment

The essential equipment needed for routine maintenance is:

Hose with adjustable nozzle
Low powered leaf blower
Soft Bristle Rake
Push Broom
